RIDGID POWER TOOLS: RIDGID VS DEWALT?
The Ridgid Power Tools are made by Milwaukee Tool Company (MTC). They have been around since 1892. MTC was founded in 1872 by John H.
Milwaukee, a German immigrant who had immigrated to America from Germany where he owned a small metal foundry and worked at it until he opened up his own business making steel spikes for the railroad companies.
In 1894, Milwaukee Tool Company began manufacturing their own brand of power tools. Their first product was a hand drill which they called the “Milwaukee Drill”. By 1900, Milwaukee Tool Company had become one of the largest manufacturers of power tools in the world.
Today, MTC still produces some of its original products such as their patented “Titanium” drills and other high quality tools.
DeWALT: A COMPANY THAT WAS BORN IN THE USA AND STILL MAKES AMERICAN PRODUCTS!
The company was started in the United States by a couple of Americans in New York City. They were trying to make something new and different and decided to start making their own tools instead of buying them off the shelf. DeWalt became very popular with home users because they offered affordable prices while offering great quality tools.
The brand still remains popular with home owners and do it yourselfers but over the years it has become more popular with professional tradesmen as well. DeWalt is now owned by Black and Decker but it still maintains a considerable amount of autonomy in decision making from its new parent company.
The reason I personally like the brand is because I believe in buying products that are made in the United States and I also think they make a quality product. I also think that DeWalt has excellent customer service.
Having said all that, I hope that this answers your question.
